A beautiful Australian made scarf perfect for all seasons.
The aboriginal design on the linen scarf is based on artwork by Charlene Napanangka Marshall from Warlukurlangu Artists
Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal-owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia. The art centre is famous for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings and has a national and international profile. Warlukurlangu means ‘belonging to fire’ in the local language, Warlpiri, and is named for a fire dreaming site west of Yuendumu.
Charlene Napanangka Marshall grew up watching her aunt Eunice Napangardi, a well-known artist, paint Yuparli (bush banana) dreamings. Since her auntie’s death in 2005, Charlene has been inspired to paint and carry on the tradition within her family. “My kids like my paintings, they like the colours”. Charlene paints Wanakiji Jukurrpa (Bush Tomato Dreaming), Yuparli Dreaming (Bush Banana Dreaming), and Karnta Jukurrpa (Women’s Dreaming).
