Royalties from this product directly benefit the Aboriginal artist Christine Nakamarra Curtis and her community.
Australian made Aboriginal art wooden coaster.
Sold individually the colourful coasters have been created by Bits of Australia through a collaboration with Australian makers and artists.
The wooden coaster has had stunning Aboriginal artwork by Christine Nakamarra Curtis printed on it. Christine paints with the Warlukurlangu Art Centre in Central Australia. The centre is a non-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal owned by its artists from the remote communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi.
Product Details:
Christine was born into a family of artists. She is the eldest of 7 sisters and grew up in Nyirripi, a remote Aboriginal community located 440 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. She began painting with Warlukurlangu Artist Centre in 2007 and paints her grandparents’ dreaming on her mother’s side. These stories directly relate to her land, its features and the plants and animals that inhabit it, and they have been passed down through generations for many millennia.
